They allow far greater individual freedom and flexibility than scheduled group tours, and as Self-Drive customers are effectively their own tour guides, these tours also offer a more intimate experience. Sweden Visitor’s pre-designed itineraries take you through varied scenery to places of great historical importance. Our Self-Drive tours are an excellent option for individuals, couples, small groups and families who want to travel the country at their own pace and leisure.

We can easily add days to any of the pre-designed itineraries, to include overnight or one-day visits to places such as the capital city, Stockholm; the second largest city, Gothenburg; or the Danish capital city, Copenhagen. No additional service fee is charged for customising the itineraries in this manner. 

Sweden Visitor offers a comprehensive selection of Self-Drive tours at very competitive prices. All advance planning is handled here by our travel consultants, and vouchers for all accommodation, car rental and requested activities, as well as detailed travel material, are delivered as per your clients’ wishes. Upon arrival in Sweden, you are met and greeted at Arlanda Int’l airport by our chauffeur, who then provides transportation to your accommodation. Pick-up or transportation from other airports can be arranged for an extra fee. Later that day—or the day after, if preferred—we offer an extensive information meeting with our Self-Drive specialists at your hotel/guesthouse. They will go over the itinerary, day by day, giving detailed information on places of accommodation, the route and attractions along the way, as well as offering helpful tips and answering whatever questions you may have.

All our Self-Drive tours include the following services:
• Accommodation of your choice (simple/comfort/luxury/cottages) and continental   breakfast
• Rental car of your choice, with unlimited mileage, CDW insurance and VAT for       the duration of the tour (excluding the day of your arrival and departure)
• Meet and greet, transfer from Arlanda Int’l airport to your hotel
• In-depth information meeting with our travel consultant
• Map of Sweden and detailed tour itinerary
• ‘Sweden Eyewitness Travel Guide’ – A detailed reference guide with information on roads, history and natural features (available in English)
• Free use of mobile phone and 100 SEK worth of calls

Sweden Visitor offers various price categories for all Self-Drive tours, depending on season, type of accommodation, number of passengers and type of car. These variables mean that there are well over 150 different price combinations available for every Self-Drive tour, ensuring that you will always find the trip best suited to your  requirements and budgets.

ACCOMMODATION DETAILS
We have four different categories of accommodation: simple, comfort, luxury and cottages.

Simple
Accommodation in budget hotels, farmhouses, guesthouses and youth hostels. Most rooms do not have private facilities, but some of them have washbasins in the rooms. Breakfast is always provided and is included in the price. Bed linen is included in the price, but beds are not always made. In the more remote areas, most places of accommodation offer optional evening meals.

Comfort
Rooms with private shower or bath and WC. These are in comfort hotels or well-appointed guesthouses in the more remote areas. All provide breakfast (included in the price) and many have their own restaurant. 

Luxury
Rooms with private shower or bath and WC. These are in four-star hotels or the best hotels available at each location. All hotels provide breakfast (included in the price) and have their own restaurant.

Cottages
Two- to eight-person cottages and summer houses. All cottages have private WC and cooking facilities; some also include hot pots, BBQ, playgrounds and/or other features.
 
Rooms
1 Person = Single room
2 Sharing = One twin/double room
3 Sharing = Triple room
4 Sharing = Two twin/double rooms
5 or More Sharing = As requested 

Seasons
High Season: From 1 June through 31 August
Low Season: From 1 September through 31 May

About Driving in Sweden
All highways and bigger roads are fully surfaced. Many other roads are gravel-surfaced, where caution should be exercised. In Sweden, driving is on the right side of the road, and there are no freeways. The general speed limit is 30 km/h in urban areas; in rural areas, the general speed limit is 70 km/h on gravel roads, and 90 or 110 km/h on paved roads, unless otherwise posted. Conventional two-wheel-drive cars can easily traverse all routes through inhabited areas during summer.
